A couple of poems

Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 05:03 PM CST [General]

I don't really consider myself a poet, but when the mood hits me, I'll write. Here's a couple of poems that I wrote a few months ago.

    Cheshire Moon

    Mischief is brewing.
    Tonight is the night.
    Within me, the Cheshire bides.

In the darkness gather the Faer.
On the night of the sliver moon,
    The Cheshire grin.

    Will you join them,
    The Folk of trickery?
    Submit to the Cheshire's embrace.

    Travelers, be wary.
    This night belongs to us.
And the Cheshire is the King.

    Smiling

    Sing to me, siren
    Lend power to my deeds
    For mischief shall brew
    Under your sweet smile

I see the Cat within you
    Beautiful mother moon
    I see the Cheshire shining
    In your sweet smile

    My mischief is well
    Fun for the Faer
    Fun for mortal friends
    Lovers of your sweet smile

    So won't you lend me
    Your power tonight
    Dear Cheshire Moon
    With your Mischievously sweet smile

When the moon is grinning, it always reminds me of the cheshire cat.

Writing in my head at work

Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 04:58 PM CST [General]

So I have a job at the library on my college campus. A job that I love dearly for it is in a nice air-conditioned room. While working the exorbitant amount of time that I had to work today (3 hours, I know, I'm spoiled.), I realized that librarians are highly overlooked as awesome people. I mean, so much brain deadening work goes into preparing books for the shelves!! I type up labels and paste them on books as well as adding bookplates, stamps, and due slips. It's time consuming, but the problem with it is this: I DON'T GET TO FLIP THROUGH THE BOOKS!!! It's quite horrible that sometimes I get these amazingly interesting looking books and I dare not spend too much time on them. Not because my boss would get mad at me, but because I personally feel like a slacker if I'm not actually working for my entire shift. -.-...

Interesting books aside, my job is pretty mindless. It's a good thing, because I basically figured out the first half of my research outline while I worked today. I need to write it out because I'll have a meeting with my mentor tomorrow, but I'm such a procrastinator that I can't seem to stop finding fun things that just *have* to get done. Hmmm.... well, it'll get done eventually.

    Hi!

Saturday, June 9, 2007, 03:28 AM CST [General]

    An introductory post.

Tone: dry... possibly tired...a little odd

Well, it's 3am, and I'm on the phone to my friend. I've been a pagan for an undeterminate amount of time, and I still don't have a name for my path. I'm thinking of boufdaism. I'm currently the co-president of my school's Pagan Student Alliance which will become the foundation for my world conquering army of ninjas.

What else would you like to know?

I'm a taurus, completely. Stubborn, and in love with soft soft pillows! ^.^ I also collect blades, but the collection isn't anything to boast of. I collect anime, too, and I'm currently doing research on the images of femininity that we percieve in anime (Japanese Animation). I am a Gender and Women's studies major, but all I really want to do is open a bakery. I even have a name for it: The Curious Cat Cafe. It will be sickeningly sweetsy pink, but people WILL love it.

Have you figured me out yet?

I love to cook and I'm pretty good at it. Anyone that can make an apple pie from scratch in a dorm is a good cook, I like to say. I use recipes on whims, and I usually change them. It doesn't really help my baking skills, though. I play video games, too. And I'd like to think that I'm pretty good at Guitar Hero.

This is starting to look like a survey, ne?

My favorite band changes often. Right now it's gym class heroes. Before, it was Joydrop. It usually comes back to Joydrop. My current quest is the search for the perfect tarot deck. I'm as thick as a board when it comes to divination/spirits so it might take me a while. I may just pick up the first one that I focus in on, though, and trust my intuition. My intuition is usually pretty trustworthy as long as I don't try too hard.

    About the name...

Kitsune is japanese for Fox. Everything comes back to foxes. They're cunning, beautiful creatures that should be admired when they are frequently cast as the villians. It is the ambiguity of foxes that draws me. Foxes are neither good or evil; they just act in ways that will benifit themselves. There are no pretenses with foxes, despite their illusions. If a fox tricks you, she normally wouldn't beat around the bush about it. Foxes aren't really straight-forward, but I find them easier to understand than humans.
